Membership of Women in French UK-Ireland is open to academics and graduate students of universities and other higher learning institutes in the UK and Ireland, with the aim of fostering a network for scholars in French Studies across both islands. In light of the long-standing relationship between WiF UK-Ireland and its sister organisations elsewhere in the world, we also extend our membership to scholars from outside the UK and Ireland, and encourage the continued flow of information, collegiality and communication between our Associations. We welcome membership applications from scholars working on any aspect of women’s cultural production in France and the Francophone world. All members agree to abide by our Constitution, available to read here.
WiF UK-Ireland offers four categories of membership, detailed below. These membership tiers operate on a rolling basis, meaning that once you become a member, your subscription to our Association will renew automatically every year. If you need to change your membership category – for example, if you are changing from PGR to ECR status, or to full-time status – then please contact us at our email address (or using the form below) so we can facilitate this process.
We also now offer a one-off, one-year membership of the Association at a flat rate. This membership option is open to academics and independent researchers at all levels, and does not renew. Choose this option below.
Participation at our biennial conference is contingent on membership of the Association. We use the income from our membership fees to fund our conference and its proceedings, and to host a wide range of other activities, including monthly writing mornings for postgraduate students, themed study days for all members, and more. As a member, you will be added to our mailing list and receive our quarterly newsletter, which will contain links to our online events, exclusive book reviews and more. More information about our events will be posted on our dedicated Member Events page.
Becoming a Member
To become a member of WiF UK-Ireland, please choose the most suitable membership option below. When you click the payment button in black, a dialogue box will appear and you will be prompted to enter your contact and payment details. You will receive a confirmation email from our payment processing system, and we will be in touch with all our new members in due course to welcome you officially to the Association. If you have any queries, please feel free to contact us using the form below before making your payment.
Automatic Membership Renewals
As noted above, if you choose one of the annually-renewing memberships of WiF UK-Ireland, your membership will renew automatically every year using the payment details you provide to complete your first membership payment. You will receive an email before your membership renews. If you need to change your card details or membership tier, please contact us using the form below or by email. If you are using an institutional card, please check first that it is suitable for use in this renewal scenario. We have no access to these details and rely on our members to alert us if their card is not intended for renewal. We lose money every time we need to cancel a subscription after it has been renewed, but we can easily avoid this if we can change your details in advance of renewal.
Please note:
You will not be redirected to the WiF UK-IRE website after your payment (despite our best efforts!). You may therefore wish to open this page in another tab before you proceed to payment.
