We are delighted to announce the next venture in the WiF UK-Ireland community: the WiF UK-Ireland Culture Club! We invite all our members (and new ones!) to join us at this quarterly online meeting, where we will discuss a film, novel or other text in community with one another. The text will be chosen in advance by our members, and we can assure you that no homework is required – we aim to make this a relaxed and stimulating space for discussion, in a convivial atmosphere!

Our first meeting will take place on Monday 20th May from 6.30-8pm (UK time). This member-only event will take place by Zoom, and a registration link has been sent out to our mailing list. If you would like to join the Association and attend this and other events, you can do so on our dedicated Membership page, where we have tiered membership options for academics at all stages. You will receive the registration link for this event after signing up. We encourage all existing members to spread the word about the Culture Club, and indeed about WiF UK-Ireland, to their colleagues and peers.

Our chosen text for this inaugural meeting is Justine Triet’s award-winning film Anatomie d’une chute (2023). We are seeking a volunteer to informally lead our discussion of this stimulating film; please express your interest to us by email by Friday 10th May. The Culture Club is relaxed and family-friendly. We look forward immensely to seeing you at our first session!
